President Message Oct 21

Ladies and Gentlemen

I deem it my genuine pleasure to address this gathering of many learned and esteemed colleagues of mine with great degree of serenity and sincerity. Today the terms of the present President and other office bearers of the Chennai city ISA branch would be ending and the charge of baton has taken place. Although it sounds to be a ritualistic process but then it has its own meaning, relevance and significance as well. It is not just a change over but it is a transfer of responsibility and accountability in a continuum.
“ the prudent heir takes careful inventory of his legacies and gives a faithful accounting to those whom he owes as obligation of trust- said John F. Kennedy

I with great sense of reverence acknowledge the yeomen services rendered by my esteemed colleague dr. Anuradha Mahender as my predecessor and her teams great efforts during the covid pandemic, with the able guidance from the State and National offices. I wholeheartedly appreciate their team work in making the State ISACON 2019 a great success.

I congratulate all the members who took office today with me. A special greeting s to our Secretary Dr. V. J. Karthik who got his place through a sportive and fair election. He has been awarded a certificate of appreciation for his invaluable contribution in the scientific session of ISACON -Annual State conference(virtual)2021. I always liked to be a teacher and academician. With the guidance and support of the State and Our National ISA, I would like to focus on the following

  1. Would like to establish a dedicated PGEXCEL programme remodeled to the current NMC recommendations with inputs from all HODs and senior members.
  2. Promote more enrolment of members- as there is three fold increase in the PG seats throughout the Nation, all the post graduates should be made a member of ISA before they qualify. I appeal to our members to join, not for your sake, but for your colleagues
  3. To facilitate introduction of post doctoral certificate courses in anaesthesia allied fields in institutions with eligible faculties and required infra structure.
  4. Safe anesthesia- save lives: ISA is committed to improving the healthcare standards, education and research in anaesthesia, pain and palliative care, critical care, primary trauma care and resuscitation, apart from perioperative medicine.
  5. Developing NTS(Non technical skills) among PGs -communication, empathy, ethical practice. PG Residents need to be trained in personality development, leadership qualities apart from communication skills
  6. Professional well being- mental and physical well being is very much the need of the hour for our fraternity to boost up our morale after fighting the deadly Covid 19 infection -through regular ISA sports, ISA cultural clubs activities.
