Graduated from Madurai medical college under the University of Madras having undergone M.B.,B.S course from 1965-1972 (including CRRI).

Joined Tamilnadu government service as civil assistant surgeon in June 1972

Served in primary health centres and Chingleput medical college till October 1976.Joined DA course at Stanley medical college in October 1976 and completed the same in September 1977.

Served as tutor in anesthesia at Stanley medical college till joining MD anaesthesiology course at the same institution in March 1980.

After successful completion of the course in March 1982 joined there as assistant professor of anaesthesia.

Was promoted as senior civil surgeon in 1991.

Designated as lecturer in anaesthesia in 1992.

Retired from Stanley medical college in March 2006 after an uninterrupted service of 30 years in that institution.

Areas of interest: Has been teaching postgraduate students pursuing DA,MD and DNB anaesthsia for over 35 years.

Has anaesthetized about 1000 renal transplant recipients from 1986 till date.

Has developed a local anaesthetic technique called “Tumescent Local anesthesia” initially for use in plastic surgery which is now widely used by surgeons of other speciality also.

Has been a guest speaker in various CME programmes.

Has been the chair person in many conferences of anaesthesia at various levels.

Has written a chapter on “Anaesthesia for Hand injuries” in the book edited by Prof.R.Venkataswami,renowned plastic surgeon, Chennai.Has the distinction of delivering the first oration titled “Anaesthesia yesterday,today and tomorrow” instituted by Professor.K.Balakrishnan at the state ISA conference at Erode in July 2011.

Received the “best teacher award” at the south zone conference of ISA at Coimbatore in 2010.

Has contributed a chapter titled “Regional anaesthesia for general plastic surgery” in the Text book of Plastic surgery by the Association of Plastic surgeons of India (under preparation)
